Mycophagy Challenge: Ten Edibles to Find This Year

  • 32 Steps

About

People come to the love of mushrooms for various reasons, but for most in this club, the main reason seems to be that they are good to eat! By focusing on learning just a few mushrooms really well, you can “pick up” a few new species each year almost effortlessly. Please note: This program is not intended as a field guide; it's an introduction to popular edible mushrooms that are relatively easy to find in California. Before eating wild mushrooms, it is imperative to have their identity confirmed by a knowledgeable source. As an FFSC member, you can come on local and long-distance forays, participate in ID classes, and/or bring your mushrooms to our monthly social to have them identified. When a lot of people collect a lot of mushrooms at the same time and compare them in person, and you can see them all and ask questions, you learn a great deal!
